Which of your titles wins?
Torn between titles? Enter your options and get them ranked on hook, genre fit and thumbnail impact, with a clear winner and why. Stop guessing.
How the titles are judged
Each title you enter is scored from 0 to 10 on the things that decide whether a title sells: how strongly it hooks, whether it fits the conventions of your genre, how memorable it is, and how it reads at thumbnail size, where most readers first see it. Your options come back in the order you typed them, each with a short note on its strengths and weaknesses, and the highest-scoring one is marked as the winner.
Getting a useful comparison
Enter three to six real contenders, one per line, and add the one-line description of the book. That line matters: a title that sounds clever on its own can mislead readers about what the book is, and the showdown can only catch that if it knows the story. Keep the genre specific. A cosy mystery and a psychological thriller call for very different titles.
After you have a winner
Read the recommendation for any suggested tweak, then search the winning title on Amazon to check that it does not clash with a popular existing book in your genre. Try it at small size on a cover mock-up with the Cover Grader. When you publish with CruxOne, your title, subtitle and description are set once and carried through to formatting and your store listing.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the best book title?
Judge each option on whether it hooks, fits the genre, is memorable and reads at thumbnail size. This tool scores your options and names a winner.
How long should a book title be?
Two to five words works best for most genres, because titles are usually first seen as small thumbnails on a phone.
Can two books have the same title?
Yes, titles are not copyrightable, but a duplicate splits search results with the other book, so it is commercially risky. Check Amazon before deciding.
Is the title showdown free?
Yes, with a few runs a day and no signup to see your result.
